Description

The University of Portsmouth is delighted to invite you and your colleagues to our annual HE Advisers’ Conference taking place on Thursday 3 May 2018 9.45am – 3.30pm.

The programme includes options for updating your knowledge, sharing best practice and finding out more about the student experience here at Portsmouth. Lunch will be provided and transport to and from Portsmouth Harbour Train Station and Southampton Airport is available.

For those of you who would prefer to travel to Portsmouth the day before, we are offering hotel accommodation and an evening meal on Wednesday 2 May. Please note that there will be a limited number of rooms available and priority will be given to those delegates who have furthest to travel.

10:00 Keynote from UCAS:

A reflection on the changing picture regarding applicant profiles and decision making.

10:40 Parallel sessions – choose one from the followiing:

  • Choosing the right course (Peter Mulligan, SACU)
  • Reference writing and the personal statement
  • How do we support transition and retention?
  • A distinctive student experience: placement, study abroad, working for the SU (student panel)

11:20 Break

11:40 'Selected Highlights' facility tours - choose one from the following:

  • Centre for Simulation in Health and Care (Adult Nursing, ODP and Paramedic Science)
  • Department of Employability
  • Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries
  • Future Technology Centre (Engineering and Science)
  • Interpreter Training Suite
  • Replica courtroom and Bloomberg Suite (Law and Accounting)
  • Specialist sport and exercise laboratories

12.45 Lunch with University staff and students, followed by an Information Fair
